Dear Lake Shore Kids Camp Parents,
We are getting excited about Kids Camp and all that God is going to do in the lives of our children during this special week. We know that for many parents, sending your child to camp can bring both excitement and some anxiety. As parents ourselves, we understand that feeling.
We want you to know that the safety and well-being of your child is one of our highest priorities.
Recently, the State of Texas implemented significant new regulations regarding youth camps. Many of these requirements were only finalized earlier this year and are designed to strengthen safety protocols and emergency preparedness at camps across Texas. In response to these changes, Lakeview Retreat Center has put additional precautions and procedures into place to help ensure the safest environment possible for every camper.
Some of the additional safety measures include:
• Emergency Action Plan (EAP): All parents and adult leaders are being asked to review Lakeview’s Emergency Action Plan. This document outlines the camp’s procedures for weather emergencies, medical situations, and other unexpected events.
• Floodplain Notification: Due to updated state regulations, every parent is required to read and sign the attached Floodplain Notification form and email it directly to renae.dubose@lakeview.net.
• Medication Safety Procedures: This summer, Lakeview will have a Camp Nurse overseeing the collection and distribution of all camper medications to ensure proper administration and safety.- A printed medication form is required for every participant needing medication (including over-the-counter medications).- All medications must remain in their original packaging.- Medications should be placed in a gallon-sized zip bag labeled with your child’s name, with the printed medication form inside.- All medications will be turned in by our Group Leaders during check-in.
• FEMA Acknowledgement Form: Parents will also need to sign the attached FEMA Acknowledgement Form, which our leaders will collect and bring to check-in.
We know some of the recent news surrounding camp regulations may feel overwhelming or raise questions. Please know this: your child’s safety matters deeply to us. We have trusted leaders attending camp, intentional supervision plans, clear emergency procedures, and a partnership with a retreat center that is taking these new requirements seriously.
At the same time, we are believing this will be an incredible week filled with worship, friendships, fun, and spiritual growth. Our prayer is that your child experiences the love of Jesus in a meaningful way and comes home encouraged and strengthened in their faith.
Please carefully review all attached documents - we will have printed waviers for you to sign at drop off on Monday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are honored to partner with you in discipling your children and caring for them during Kids Camp.
We are excited for an amazing week!

As we discussed in our parent meeting on May 10th -
as we look forward to camp, we also want to partner with you in setting clear expectations. Our goal is for every child to have a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. Because of that, we will have a zero-tolerance policy for behavior that is harmful to others or disrupts the overall experience. If a situation arises involving serious misbehavior, we will contact you, and it will be expected that a parent comes to pick up their child from camp.
We share this not to take away from the excitement, but to ensure that camp is a positive and life-giving experience for every student attending.
Thank you for trusting us with your kids. We are honored to invest in their lives and can’t wait for an incredible week together!
With excitement and gratitude,
Pastor Sterling
